Havelet Slipway repairs to begin in July

Repairs to the Havelet Slipway near Castle Cornet, which was damaged during a storm in 2018, are set to start in July this year following a competitive tendering exercise which was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The works have been scheduled for this summer season to take advantage of the better weather and the low spring tides that occur during this period. The works are due to be complete early this Autumn.

Geomarine Ltd. was selected as the preferred tenderer using a range of criteria assessing bid quality and value engineering proposals. The design of the repairs has considered a more robust approach to help withstand severe weather events in the future.

The repairs are being funded as a "must do" project under the Government Work Plan which was agreed by the States Assembly in 2021.

The estimated completion date for this project is the end of September 2022, in the meantime there is no public access to the structure.

Mariners are reminded that Local Notices to Mariners 005/2019 is still in force and the structure should not be used until the notice has been rescinded by Guernsey Ports.
